TubeChop Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

  • Anonymous use: We do not require an account. When you create a clip, we store the YouTube video ID and URL, start/end times, a generated clip identifier, expiry timestamp, public video metadata, and any optional note you provide. We also record whether the clip was created on our website or through an AI assistant.
  • AI assistant connections (MCP): Your connected assistant sends TubeChop the YouTube URL or video ID, exact start/end times, a retry identifier, and any optional note included in the tool request. We store hashes of the retry identifier and request parameters with the clip's internal identifier to prevent duplicate creation. We also create a temporary management link and store a hash of its token with the clip's internal identifier. The tool does not request your full conversation history.
  • Account information: If you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and login credentials (or OAuth provider identifiers).
  • Subscription and billing data: If you subscribe, we store Stripe customer/subscription identifiers and billing status. Payment details are processed by Stripe and are not stored by us.
  • Technical data: We may collect basic log data (IP address, browser type, referrer, timestamps) for security and analytics.
  • Cookies: We may use cookies or local storage for session functionality and performance monitoring.

2. Use of YouTube API Services

TubeChop uses the YouTube IFrame Player API and may use the YouTube Data API to retrieve public video information. By using TubeChop, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

TubeChop caches only limited public metadata (video title, channel name, thumbnail) for up to 30 days, after which it is refreshed or deleted, per the YouTube API Services Policies. We do not access private YouTube account data.

3. How We Use Information

  • To generate and serve clip pages.
  • To maintain service security and performance.
  • To improve TubeChop features and user experience.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell or rent personal data. Data may be shared with:

  • Service providers (hosting, analytics, error monitoring).
  • Payment processors (Stripe) to process subscriptions.
  • Your connected AI assistant receives the public clip link, source video details, expiration information, whether a request reused an existing clip, and a temporary management link. The assistant provider processes this information under its own privacy policy.
  • Legal authorities if required by law.

Clips created through an AI assistant are public. Any optional note is shown on the public clip page, so do not include private information in it. The management link is separate from the public sharing link: anyone who uses it before it expires can link the clip to their browser session. Treat it as private.

5. Data Retention

  • Clip metadata: Free anonymous clips expire after 7 days and become unavailable. Expired clip records, including optional notes, are removed by our scheduled daily cleanup.
  • MCP retry records: cached for 8 days after creation to recognize retries.
  • MCP management links: valid for 24 hours and can be used once. The cached token record is consumed when the link is used or expires after that period. Using the link adds the clip identifier to your browser session.
  • Account and subscription records: retained while your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, or operational purposes. You can request deletion of your account.
  • Logs: may be retained for up to 30 days for operational security.

6. Third-Party Services

TubeChop relies on YouTube. By using TubeChop, you are also bound by Google's Privacy Policy. We also use Stripe to process subscriptions and payments.

7. Your Choices and Contact

You can stop sending tool requests by disconnecting TubeChop in your AI assistant's settings. Disconnecting does not delete existing public clips or copies of results retained by the assistant provider. For privacy questions or requests to delete your TubeChop data, contact [email protected]. We may need information to verify that a request concerns your data.

8. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy and Terms. Significant changes will be posted on our website.
